Location from Final Fantasy VII by Square Enix
A quiet, quaint town east of Midgar where Cloud recounts the Nibelheim Incident to his companions — though his version of events is deeply unreliable, substituting himself for Zack in the story.
Kalm serves a crucial narrative function as the site of Cloud's flashback — the first time the party hears about Sephiroth, Nibelheim, and the events that set the entire story in motion. Cloud tells the story as if he were the SOLDIER First Class who accompanied Sephiroth, unknowingly (or unconsciously) replacing Zack in his memories due to Jenova cell manipulation and psychological trauma. The inconsistencies in his account become apparent only much later. The town itself is unremarkable but pleasant, providing a moment of calm before the global pursuit of Sephiroth begins. After Meteorfall, Kalm survived relatively intact.
A peaceful medieval-styled town with cobblestone streets and timber-framed buildings clustered around a central clock tower. Stone walls and arched doorways give it an old-world charm that feels worlds apart from Midgar's industrial sprawl, just hours away by foot.
