Shinra's primary military port and second-largest city, built atop a fishing village. Features the massive Sister Ray cannon, a military harbor, and serves as Shinra's power projection across the ocean.

Junon represents Shinra's military might made manifest. The upper city is a gleaming military installation with an airfield, submarine docks, and the enormous mako-powered cannon that can strike targets across the ocean. Like Midgar, it was built atop an existing settlement — the once-thriving Under Junon fishing village now suffers from mako pollution that has destroyed its fisheries. Cloud infiltrates Junon by disguising himself as a Shinra soldier during a military parade, one of the game's most memorable sequences. The Sister Ray cannon is later relocated to Midgar to combat the Weapons that awaken to defend the Planet.

Appearance

A towering fortress-city built in vertical layers along coastal cliffs. The massive Junon Cannon (later the Sister Ray) extends from the upper city over the ocean. Military installations, barracks, and an airfield dominate the upper levels while the original fishing village languishes in shadow below.
