Gongaga

Location from Final Fantasy VII by Square Enix

A small jungle village with a destroyed mako reactor on its outskirts — Zack Fair's hometown. His parents still wait for him to come home, not knowing he was killed escaping Shinra's pursuit.

Gongaga is a tiny, easily overlooked village that carries enormous emotional weight through its connection to Zack Fair. The destroyed reactor on its outskirts is evidence of mako energy's dangers — it exploded years ago, devastating the surrounding area. Zack's parents live here, still waiting for their son to return from SOLDIER, unaware that he was killed by Shinra soldiers while trying to reach Midgar with a mako-poisoned Cloud. When Cloud's party passes through, Zack's parents ask about their son, and Cloud — whose memories are tangled with Zack's — cannot give them answers. Aerith also reacts emotionally, having been Zack's girlfriend before his disappearance.

Appearance

A handful of thatched-roof huts nestled in dense tropical jungle, with the twisted wreckage of an exploded mako reactor looming nearby. Vines and jungle growth have begun reclaiming the reactor ruins, but the scarred earth and warped metal remain visible through the canopy.
