The Cetra's ultimate protective relic, containing the spell Holy — the Planet's counterforce to Meteor. Passed from Ifalna to Aerith, who activates it with her prayer at the Forgotten Capital at the cost of her life.
The White Materia is the Black Materia's opposite — where one destroys, the other protects. It contains Holy, the Planet's ultimate defensive magic, which can only be activated by a Cetra's prayer. Aerith inherits it from her mother Ifalna and carries it unknowingly as a hair ornament for most of the journey. When she realizes she alone can stop Sephiroth's Meteor, she travels to the Forgotten Capital to pray. She successfully activates Holy moments before Sephiroth kills her — the materia drops from her hair into the water, glowing green to confirm its activation. Holy is ultimately released too late to stop Meteor alone, requiring Aerith to direct the Lifestream from within to assist.
A pale, almost translucent orb that glows with soft white-green light, warm to the touch. When activated, it shines with brilliant radiance. Aerith wears it as a hair ribbon ornament, its true nature hidden in plain sight throughout the journey.
