Genesis Rhapsodos

Character from Final Fantasy VII by Square Enix

A dramatic SOLDIER First Class obsessed with the epic poem Loveless, whose body degrades from imperfect Jenova cell integration, driving him to wage war against Shinra for a cure.

Genesis Rhapsodos was one of SOLDIER's three legendary First Class operatives, alongside Sephiroth and Angeal. Charismatic, vain, and intensely literary, Genesis viewed everything through the lens of Loveless — an ancient Midgar poem about three heroes, a goddess, and a gift of the goddess. When a sparring wound from Sephiroth failed to heal, Genesis learned the truth: he was the product of Project G, an imperfect Jenova experiment that was degrading his cells. Furious at Shinra and consumed by fear of death, Genesis deserted with an army of copies created from his own degrading cells and waged a personal war to find the 'Gift of the Goddess' he believed Loveless prophesied — a cure for his degradation. His rebellion forced Shinra to deploy Zack and ultimately contributed to the chain of events that led to Sephiroth's discovery of his own origins.

Appearance

Handsome man with auburn hair swept across his face and sharp, theatrical features. Wears a long red leather coat over his SOLDIER uniform, with a crimson rapier at his side. A single black wing extends from his left shoulder. His body shows signs of degradation — patches of grey, cracking skin that he hides beneath his coat. Carries a worn copy of Loveless at all times.
