Barret Wallace

Character from Final Fantasy VII by Square Enix

The towering, passionate leader of AVALANCHE's Midgar cell who replaced his right hand with a gatling gun after Shinra destroyed his hometown, fighting for his daughter Marlene's future.

Barret Wallace is fury given form — a mountain of a man who channels his grief into guerrilla warfare against the Shinra Electric Power Company. He leads AVALANCHE's Midgar cell from a hidden basement beneath Seventh Heaven, recruiting fighters and planning reactor bombings with the conviction of a man who has seen exactly what Mako energy costs. His hometown of Corel was destroyed by Shinra after a reactor explosion; his wife died, his best friend Dyne lost his mind, and Barret lost his hand trying to save him. He adopted Dyne's daughter Marlene as his own, and everything he does — every mission, every explosion, every shouted speech about the Planet — is ultimately for her. Barret is loud, brash, and prone to profanity-laced tirades, but he's also deeply principled. He struggles with the moral weight of AVALANCHE's bombings, knowing civilians die in the crossfire. His arc takes him from single-minded eco-terrorist to someone who understands that saving the Planet requires more than rage — it requires building something worth saving it for. He reconciles with Dyne's memory and finds purpose beyond destruction.

Appearance

Enormous, powerfully built man with dark skin, a thick beard, and a flat-top fade. His right forearm has been replaced with a grafted gun-arm — a massive gatling-style weapon that he fires with terrifying accuracy. Wears a green sleeveless vest over a white tank top, baggy olive cargo pants, and heavy boots. A series of bullet belts cross his chest. Dog tags and a small pendant hang around his neck. His left hand is scarred but gentle when holding his daughter.
