A fictional city in Newport County, Rhode Island — home to the Griffins, the Swansons, the Browns, and Quagmire, and a town whose population of 800 has a statistically improbable event rate.

Quahog is pronounced 'KO-hog,' and named for the edible clam — a Rhode Island coastal staple. Created by Seth MacFarlane partly because a writer got in trouble for naming a real town in a joke and decided never to do that again. The town has a mayor (Adam West, then various others), a local news team, a police department with one recognizable officer, a high school, a brewery, a pharmacy, a bar, and a deli. Most of Quahog's civic infrastructure exists to be used in plots and damaged in consequences. It is modeled on Cranston, Rhode Island. The creator grew up near Providence. The show uses this geography faithfully when it is convenient.

Appearance

A mid-sized New England coastal city with the slightly faded infrastructure of a real Rhode Island town and the cartoon logic of a show that needs to blow things up regularly. The Providence skyline is visible in the distance. The waterfront exists. The town has a church, a school, a police department, and a bar that serves Pawtucket Patriot Ale.
