The Quahog Police Department is primarily a narrative device that provides Joe Swanson's professional identity and occasionally creates legal complications for other characters. It has conducted investigations, arrested people, and done the institutional things a police department does. Joe's career there is the most developed through-line: his disability, his decorated service record, his genuine commitment to law enforcement in a town that tests it regularly.
A civic institution with a police station, patrol cars, and the operational capacity of a department that serves a city of 800. Joe Swanson is the primary visible officer, but the department has other members.
