Stewie speaks in a clipped, mid-Atlantic baritone that no adult in Quahog appears to register. This is either a rule of the universe or a collective failure of attention. He has built a laser, a time machine, a mind-control device, and multiple weapons capable of ending civilizations, in a nursery that also contains building blocks and a stuffed bear named Rupert. His stated ambition is world domination. His actual emotional landscape is closer to a child who wants very badly to be seen as extraordinary and is genuinely afraid that the people he loves might not love him back. His relationship with Brian is the most honest relationship either of them has. They bicker constantly and would do anything for each other. The matricide arc faded as the show continued. What replaced it was something more interesting: a tiny person negotiating the gap between who they present themselves as and who they actually are.
