Mort is modeled on Sol Rosenberg from the Jerky Boys, a fact the show takes as license to build his entire characterization around hypochondriac Jewish comedy tropes that the show leans into fully. He runs Goldman's Pharmacy, which has been looted, run out of business, and destroyed on various occasions. He always reopens. He always comes back with his anxious energy intact. His wife Muriel was killed by Diane Simmons in 'And Then There Were Fewer,' which is a more dramatic end than Mort's energy usually presages. He remarried to Rachel Goldman, which the show treated as a somewhat sentimental development.
A thin, pale middle-aged man with a large nose, thick-framed glasses, and the posture of someone who has been anticipating bad news for forty years. Dresses in slacks and a button-down. His expression defaults to anxious, with periodic intervals of mournful.
