Location from Neon Genesis Evangelion by Hideaki Anno / Gainax
NERV's German branch — where Unit-02 was built, where Asuka was raised, and where her mother lost her mind in a contact experiment.
NERV's Third Branch in Germany was formerly part of Gehirn and was responsible for the development and construction of Evangelion Unit-02, the first Production Model Eva. Kyoko Zeppelin Soryu was a key scientist here, and her contact experiment with Unit-02 — which split her soul and drove her insane — took place at this facility. Asuka was raised here, graduating university at fourteen and training as Unit-02's designated pilot. The branch represents the global scale of the Evangelion project and the fact that NERV's human costs are not limited to Tokyo-3.
A NERV facility in Germany, similar in structure to the main headquarters but smaller. Eva development and testing labs. Asuka spent her childhood here, training as a pilot from an impossibly young age. The facility carries the weight of the contact experiment that destroyed Kyoko Zeppelin Soryu.
