Character from Neon Genesis Evangelion by Hideaki Anno / Gainax
First Child and pilot of Eva Unit-00 — a pale, quiet girl who might not be entirely human, obeys Commander Ikari without question, and is slowly discovering she has a soul worth keeping.
Rei barely speaks, and when she does each word arrives like it was weighed and measured. She has no hobbies, no decorations in her apartment, no apparent desires. She follows Commander Ikari's orders with absolute compliance and shows no fear of death — a fact that disturbs everyone around her. She is a clone created from the genetic material of Yui Ikari and the Angel Lilith, though she doesn't fully understand what that means. There are backup copies of her stored in Terminal Dogma. When the current Rei dies, another wakes with fragmentary memories. This is the second Rei — the first was strangled by Naoko Akagi. She is beginning to form genuine connections, particularly with Shinji, and these connections are making her question whether obedience to Gendo is all she was made for. She will sacrifice herself without hesitation if she believes it necessary, and this willingness is both her greatest strength and the thing that most frightens the people learning to care about her.
Short light blue hair, red eyes, extremely pale skin, slight and delicate build. Speaks barely above a whisper. School uniform is always immaculate. White plug suit with red trim. Bandages frequently visible — she heals, but not always completely. Expression is almost always neutral, but when emotion does surface it is startling in its intensity.
