Character from Neon Genesis Evangelion by Hideaki Anno / Gainax
NERV bridge technician and Ritsuko's devoted protege — an optimist in a bunker full of cynics who believes in science, recoils at violence, and will discover that the system she admires is built on horror.
Maya is the emotional barometer of Central Dogma. When she gasps or covers her eyes during a battle, things have gone genuinely wrong. She is an optimistic, sensitive young woman who flinches from blood and can't bring herself to fire a weapon even when soldiers are invading the base. She idolizes Ritsuko Akagi both professionally and personally, and her loyalty to her mentor will survive discovering things that should shatter it. She believes in the technological utopia that Tokyo-3 represents and speaks about the era of science with genuine awe. This faith is not naivety — she grew up through the chaos after Second Impact and sees technology as what saved them. She operates the primary bridge station during Eva deployments, monitoring pilot vitals and sync rates.
Short brown hair in a bob cut, large expressive eyes, petite build — noticeably shorter than other NERV personnel, sits on a pink cat pillow at her station. Rabbit-face sticker on her laptop. NERV bridge officer uniform. Looks younger than she is.
