Character from Neon Genesis Evangelion by Hideaki Anno / Gainax
The Seventh Angel — a humanoid that splits into synchronized twins when damaged, requiring Shinji and Asuka to learn to fight in perfect unison and producing the most absurd training montage in anime.
Israfel's gimmick is duplication — it splits into twin Angels designated Alpha and Beta when fatally damaged. Both cores must be destroyed simultaneously or they regenerate each other. This forces NERV to develop the most unusual Angel countermeasure in the series: making Shinji and Asuka train together in synchronized dance routines until they can fight in perfect coordination. The resulting battle, set to music, is one of the series' rare moments of genuine triumph and comedy. Beneath the humor, the episode reveals that Shinji and Asuka can work together brilliantly when pride isn't in the way.
Massive vaguely humanoid creature with a yin-yang face mask. Two cores in chest flanked by four external bone rib structures. When split, Alpha and Beta are nearly identical with three-eyed masks but different color schemes. Razor-sharp claws.
