The Sixth Angel — a titanic aquatic predator the size of a battleship that attacks the Pacific Fleet because NERV is transporting something it desperately wants: Adam.

Gaghiel is drawn to the UN Pacific Fleet not by chance but by the presence of Adam's embryo being smuggled by Kaji. It is a brute — destroying warships with its body, immune to naval gunfire. Asuka and Shinji defeat it in their first joint operation, opening its jaws to expose the core for destruction by the fleet's firepower. This is Asuka's introduction battle and the moment Shinji meets her; the forced dual piloting of Unit-02 in an undersea fight sets the tone for their entire volatile dynamic.

Appearance

Massive aquatic body matching Iowa-class battleships in length — roughly 270 meters. Enormous jaws filled with serrated teeth, core located in mouth. Tannish skin with black outline. Bone face-plate resembling Sachiel's regenerated face. Easily dwarfs an Evangelion.
