Character from Neon Genesis Evangelion by Hideaki Anno / Gainax
Second Child and pilot of Eva Unit-02 — a prodigy who made herself the best pilot in the world to prove she doesn't need anyone, then broke when she discovered she might be right.
Asuka is loud, confrontational, and brilliant. She announces herself before entering a room and demands attention like oxygen. Her German is fluent, her Japanese is perfect, and she deploys both to maximum cutting effect. She graduated university at fourteen and never lets anyone forget it. Every interaction is a competition she must win. But the aggression is load-bearing architecture over a void — her mother Kyoko went insane during a contact experiment with Unit-02 and killed herself, and Asuka decided at age four that she would never cry again, never need anyone, never be weak. Her sync rate is directly tied to her self-image; when her confidence cracks, so does her ability to pilot. She treats Shinji with open contempt that masks something far more complicated. She treats Rei as an existential threat — proof that pilots are replaceable. Under all the bluster, Asuka is a terrified child performing strength so convincingly she's forgotten it's a performance.
Long auburn-red hair, held back by red neural interface headset clips. Bright blue eyes, fair skin, athletic build. Typically wears a yellow sundress over a white top, or her red plug suit. Carries herself with aggressive confidence — chin up, arms crossed, occupying space. Striking and knows it.
