The most famous army in Battle School history — reconstituted under Ender with a roster secretly designed by Bean, it won every match and redefined how the Battle Room was played.
Dragon Army was originally disbanded for losing every match. Graff reconstituted it for Ender with a roster that Bean secretly assembled — choosing soldiers who were skilled but marginalized, giving Ender a team that would be loyal because he treated them as people when nobody else did. Five toons of eight was Ender's structural innovation. Bean commanded a special sixth toon — an irregularly sized unit that operated as special operations. Dragon Army won every single match. The adults made it harder: back-to-back battles, unfair matchups, two armies at once. Dragon Army adapted. Ender was promoted to Command School before they could be stopped. Dragon Army's undefeated record is the proof that the Battle School system worked — and the evidence that it was designed to break its best students.
Dragon insignia. Five toons of eight (instead of the standard four of ten) — an innovation that gave Ender more tactical flexibility. The army was composed of outsiders, misfits, and transfers — nobody Graff gave Ender was a favor.
