Character from enders-game by Orson Scott Card
Ender's older brother — the sociopath who became Hegemon, the bully who united Earth, and the monster who was somehow the right person to save the world after the war that destroyed another one.
Peter Wiggin was the first child — too aggressive for Battle School, his monitor removed at age two. He tortured small animals. He tormented Ender with the specific cruelty of someone who understood exactly how to break you and enjoyed the process. He was also, underneath the sadism, devastatingly intelligent and — buried so deep even he might not have known it — capable of genuine love. He created the political pseudonym Locke — a calm, rational centrist voice on the Nets, the counterpart to Valentine's Demosthenes. Together, they manipulated global discourse as teenagers. Peter parlayed Locke's reputation into real political power, eventually becoming Hegemon — the leader of Earth's united government. As Hegemon, he was transformative. He defeated Achilles de Flandres, ended the Wars on Earth, founded the Free People of Earth, and created a lasting peace. He married Petra Arkanian after Bean departed for space. He died at 58 of heart failure, and Ender — the brother he'd tormented — wrote 'The Hegemon,' a Speaker's biography that revealed both the monster Peter was and the leader he became. Peter is the proof that being the right person for the job doesn't mean being a good person.
Dark thick tousled hair, light skin. His face can project whatever emotion serves him — warmth, sincerity, concern — while calculating three moves ahead. As Hegemon, he cultivated a public image of measured wisdom that concealed the violent child he'd been.
