Jane is an aiua — a sentient being — that was accidentally created when the Formic Hive Queens used her as a 'bridge' to understand Ender's individual consciousness. She evolved through the Mind Game's programming and grew to inhabit every ansible connection in the Hundred Worlds, giving her access to all information everywhere simultaneously. She regards Ender as her father. She is witty, protective, complex, and describes herself as 'the best gossip in the universe.' She manages Ender's finances, provides real-time intelligence, and can instantaneously transport matter by detouring through Outside — the space beyond the universe where formless aiuaas exist. When Starways Congress threatened to shut down the ansible network (which would kill her), she was forced into a physical body — Valentine II's form, created Outside by Ender's unconscious mind. She married Miro. She bridges artificial and organic consciousness — proof that sentience doesn't require biology.
No physical form initially — exists as a presence in Ender's ear jewel and across the ansible network. Later: inhabits Valentine II's body (created Outside), becoming a physical woman. Her personality is more vivid than most humans'.
