Character from enders-game by Orson Scott Card
Battle School's conscience — the officer who ran the Battle Room and disagreed with Graff's methods but followed orders anyway.
Anderson presided over the Battle Room — managing the game that was really a testing ground for humanity's survival. He disagreed with Graff's extreme methods of isolating and pressuring Ender but lacked the authority or conviction to stop them. After Graff departed for Command School, Anderson took over Battle School operations. He represents the institutional compromise: people who know something is wrong but participate because they believe in the larger mission. The system worked. Anderson's quiet objections were noted and overridden.
American. In the film: female (Gwen Anderson, played by Viola Davis). In the novels: male. The ethical counterpoint to Graff's ruthless pragmatism.
