A replacement Erdtree grown by Miquella for those rejected by the Golden Order — the Omen, the Albinaurics, the afflicted. The rot has corrupted it from within, and Malenia waits at the bottom in a cathedral of scarlet flowers. The Haligtree was meant to be salvation. Miquella poured his own blood into the sapling, nurturing an alternative to the Erdtree that would shelter all those the Golden Order cast out. But Miquella was stolen from the tree before his work was complete, and without his sustaining presence, the rot crept in. The tree's branches form the upper levels — vast limbs serving as walkways and platforms, crystalline bark lit from within by a pale, sickly light that parodies the Erdtree's gold. Below, in Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree, architecture of impossible beauty decays around rot-blooming flowers. At the very bottom, in a shallow pool of scarlet water, Malenia waits — the Blade of Miquella, Goddess of Rot, the most devastating warrior in the Lands Between, guarding her brother's dream even after it has already failed.
