Highland farmland and windmill villages leading to the royal capital. Golden and beautiful on the surface, crawling with soldiers and grotesque enemies beneath its pastoral veneer. Reached by ascending the Grand Lift of Dectus or threading through the Ruin-Strewn Precipice, the Altus Plateau opens like a painting — golden fields, ancient trees, the capital city shimmering in the distance. It is the most civilized region of the Lands Between and the most deceptive. Windmill villages celebrate festivals with dancing women and skinned corpses. Soldiers patrol roads that lead nowhere important anymore. The Erdtree looms closer here than anywhere else, its roots visible where they pierce the earth, holding the capital together. The plateau is a threshold — beauty before the reckoning.
