D serves the Golden Order by hunting Those Who Live in Death — the undead created by Godwyn's half-death and the deathroot corruption. He is devout, rigid, and utterly convinced that the dead should stay dead. His twin brother shares his purpose. When Fia murders D to advance her quest to restore the Rune of Death, it creates a chain of vengeance — D's brother eventually kills Fia in turn. D represents the Golden Order's enforcement arm: righteous, uncompromising, and ultimately insufficient against the theological problems the Order itself created.
Wears distinctive gold-plated armor with a golden half-mask covering the upper portion of his face. His armor is inscribed with death-warding incantations. He carries a greatsword blessed against the undead. His bearing is militant and orthodox — a true believer's posture.
