A mystical recording device that captures the melodies of eight Sanctuary locations — the key to Ness's journey into Magicant and the awakening of his true power.
The Sound Stone is given to Ness by Buzz Buzz with his dying breath and is the most important item in the game. It records the melody at each of the eight Your Sanctuary locations — Giant Step, Lilliput Steps, Milky Well, Rainy Circle, Magnet Hill, Pink Cloud, Lumine Hall, and Fire Spring. When all eight are collected, Ness falls unconscious and enters Magicant, his mental landscape. After defeating Ness's Nightmare in the Sea of Eden, the Sound Stone disappears — its purpose fulfilled, its power absorbed into Ness himself. If Ness's inventory is full when Buzz Buzz gives it, Tracy receives it instead, and it still works from her possession.
A small stone that hums faintly. When held to the forehead, it plays back whatever melodies have been recorded so far — an incomplete tune that grows fuller with each Sanctuary visited.
