A badge named after Benjamin Franklin that reflects all lightning-based attacks — essential for surviving Mr. Carpainter and useful throughout the entire game.
The Franklin Badge is given by Paula while she's imprisoned in Happy Happy Village, and it's the only way to survive Mr. Carpainter's Crashing Boom Bang lightning attack. It reflects PK Thunder and all lightning-based attacks for whoever carries it in their inventory — no equipping required. This makes it useful throughout the game against any electrical enemy. The Franklin Badge appeared in EarthBound Beginnings and returns in Mother 3, making it one of the series' most iconic items. It is named after Benjamin Franklin, who famously experimented with electricity.
