Birdlike warriors in Magicant who represent Ness's courage — five of them, and each one who falls gets a grave that stays.
The Flying Men live in a small house in Magicant, Ness's mental landscape, and they represent his courage. If spoken to, one will join Ness as an ally — they hit hard and take punishment. But when a Flying Man falls, he's gone forever, buried in a grave outside their house. Use all five and you've exhausted Ness's courage. The fourth one tells you to stop treating them like trash. The fifth says 'This isn't courage, it's desperation.' They are a quiet, devastating commentary on what it costs to be brave, hidden inside a whimsical psychic dreamscape.
Tall, birdlike humanoids. Walk upright. Have the earnest posture of someone who will fight for you and die for you and mean every second of it.
