Location from Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman
Scattered sanctuaries throughout every floor — violence-free zones where crawlers open loot boxes, rest, and access services, always marked green on the minimap.
Safe rooms are sanctuaries found throughout every floor of the dungeon, always appearing green on a crawler's minimap even in fog-of-war areas. They enforce strict no-violence and no-theft rules through a three-strike system: first violation freezes the offender for one hundred seconds with a blazing 'Naughty' sign overhead; second violation freezes for one hour; third strips all gear and teleports the crawler into a mob nest. Crawlers must enter safe rooms to open loot boxes and distribute stat points. Three monitors display floor collapse countdowns, the Dungeon Crawler World leaderboard, and room-specific information. Restrooms include showers and amenities, and toilet areas are the only spaces invisible to the production company. When sleeping in a safe room, a crawler's map dot disappears and they appear translucent to non-party members. Doors will not open if mobs are outside, but if already open, even bosses can enter. All safe rooms close one hour before level collapse starting on the second floor.
On upper floors, safe rooms resemble teleported Earth buildings — Peruvian Taco Bells, Alabama Waffle Houses, Polish fast food joints, dingy DMV waiting rooms. Windows show nothing but solid walls. Inside, three monitor screens display countdown timers, leaderboards, and location-specific information. Sleeping areas range from rental rooms with clean white sheets to cots behind curtains.
