Location from Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman
A massive battlefield floor where nine alien-sponsored factions wage war for control of the capital city Larracos — crawlers are conscripted as expendable soldiers.
The Ninth Floor is Faction Wars — a Dungeon Crawler World tradition where Syndicate corporations and governments purchase faction spots for approximately one hundred fifty million credits each. Nine attacking teams battle each other and a defending NPC team for control of Larracos and a massive cash prize. Crawlers are conscripted against their will into various armies and killed en masse. Full crawler extinction is historically common on this floor. The current season features ten factions including Carl and Donut's Princess Posse and the NPC-led Team Retribution under Ferdinand. A sixty-hour ceasefire begins the floor, during which crawlers can volunteer for factions in Larracos. When four teams remain, the Peeling of Larracos commences — attackers must hold the throne room for six hours while defenders must hold for a full week. Stairwells do not open until Faction Wars is won or thirty hours remain. The floor lasts thirty days with thirty-two thousand crawlers. The Crown of the Sepsis Whore forces its wearers into the Blood Sultanate's royal succession, requiring them to slay all other royals before descending.
An unusually large floor that breaks the dungeon's shrinking pattern to accommodate the nine factions. Open plains radiate outward from the sprawling capital city of Larracos, surrounded by dense forests. Each faction occupies a pie-slice territory with Larracos at the center. The playing field was expanded this season to compensate for increased combatants.
