Zhang

Character from Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman

A bald Chinese warehouse worker turned Earth Mover mage-tank — decisive, quietly romantic, and too respectful of Carl to tell him when his plans are insane.

Zhang barks orders at Li Jun during crises with the authority of a man who's been managing his best friend since they worked in a warehouse together. He's decisive when lives are on the line and romantically hesitant when they're not — his interest in Li Na is obvious to everyone except possibly himself. His Earth Mover class makes him a mage-tank hybrid: Dirt Clod spells, acid immunity, the ability to extend timers on unconscious mobs, and the tactical flexibility to switch between damage and defense. He gifted Carl the Shrink Wand after using it to devastating effect, which says something about his generosity and his trust in Carl's ability to use tools creatively. He and Li Jun avoid honest feedback about Carl's questionable decisions — a cultural respect for the man who saved their lives that's endearing and occasionally dangerous. They're the reliable center of any formation, the pair you put in the middle of your line because they'll hold it without being asked.

Appearance

Bald Asian man who remained human during race selection. By the fourth floor, wears glowing black and gold segmented armor that suggests he's taken the tank part of mage-tank seriously. Built like someone who spent years moving heavy things in a warehouse and now moves heavy things with magic.
