Character from Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman
A parasitic worm in a glass bowl on a robot body who manages the Desperado Club — a Syndicate liaison with a vice principal's demeanor and a bureaucrat's delight in making you fill out forms.
Orren is the dungeon's most annoying necessary evil. As a Syndicate Liaison, he functions as an independent investigator, fact-finder, and manager of the Desperado Club — roles that give him authority over Carl's life in ways that are technically legal and practically insufferable. He maintains formal, bureaucratic mannerisms with the professional detachment of someone who literally doesn't have a nervous system in the traditional sense. He summons Carl for questioning with regularity, attempts manipulation with cunning that would be more effective if Carl weren't constitutionally incapable of respecting authority, and handles sensitive negotiations including potential System AI interactions. Carl's instinct to seek legal protection when dealing with him is telling — it means even in a dungeon full of monsters, the parasitic worm bureaucrat is the one who makes him feel like he needs a lawyer. This both delights and frustrates Orren, which is the most emotion a worm in a jar has ever expressed.
A Gondii — a parasitic worm citizen of the Valtay Corporation. His actual worm body inhabits a water-filled glass bowl atop a mechanical humanoid frame, creating a grim reaper-like aesthetic complete with hood. Sits at his desk with hands steepled, radiating the energy of a vice principal who's about to tell you your permanent record is very concerning.
