Mongo

Character from Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman

A Jurassic Park-sized velociraptor who serves as Princess Donut's loyal steed and the dungeon's most improbable mascot — feathered, earthquake-causing, and deeply devoted to his cat mom.

Mongo is a pet in the game-mechanical sense, which means his personality is filtered through the system's companion AI. He's loyal to Donut with the single-minded devotion of a creature who imprinted on a narcissistic cat and decided that was fine. He tolerates Carl, gets along with the party, and responds to combat situations by causing earthquakes. He's not sapient in the way Donut is — the system gave him intelligence modifiers but not the existential crisis that comes with full uplift. He's a very smart dinosaur who loves his mom, hates things that threaten his mom, and solves problems by being a velociraptor at them. The audience adores him because he's a dinosaur ridden by a cat wearing a tiara, which is apparently peak entertainment across all galactic cultures.

Appearance

Started as a seven-inch chicken-dinosaur thing with pink downy feathers. Now pony-height with vibrant red and blue plumage, roughly thirteen feet long including a tail that makes up half his length. Wears an Enchanted Mongoliensis Saddle and metallic Teeth Caps. Looks like Jurassic Park's concept art had a baby with a tropical bird.

Also known as: Mongo, Royal Steed, the dinosaur
