Character from Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman
An orange cat transformed into a level 100 Province Boss who rides an armored battle rhino — believes every thought in his chicken-nugget-sized brain is universal truth, and nobody has successfully argued otherwise.
Ferdinand is the answer to the question: 'What if you gave a cat absolute power and also a rhino?' Whatever thought enters his chicken-nugget-sized brain is, in his estimation, the obvious, unalienable truth. He refuses to accept limitations, doesn't understand being told 'no,' and expects worship as a baseline social interaction. He was Carl's downstairs neighbor's cat — an unneutered indoor/outdoor terror named Gravy Boat before the Borant Corporation transformed him into Queen Imogen's familiar and a Province Boss. His connection to Donut is pre-dungeon: they knew each other as neighborhood cats, which means their rivalry has the personal intensity of two cats who've been hissing at each other through a window for years. He secretly added cat-sized hallways throughout his castle without permission, which is the most cat thing any entity in the dungeon has ever done. He is self-aggrandizing, manipulative, and genuinely believes he deserves his position — and in the dungeon's logic, where cat-intelligence modifiers stack with boss-level power, he might not be entirely wrong.
A yellow and orange cat wearing a magical turban that grants abilities. Rides atop Simoom, a level 75 armored battle rhino with glowing red eyes. Originally named Gravy Boat. Has secretly added cat-sized hallways throughout his castle without permission. The turban-rhino-castle combination creates a visual that's equal parts absurd and threatening.
