Character from Dune by Frank Herbert
The Suk doctor whose supposedly unbreakable Imperial conditioning shattered under the weight of his wife's torture — he betrayed the Atreides knowing it would kill him, and made sure his betrayal contained the seeds of Harkonnen destruction.
Yueh moves through his final days among the Atreides with the terrible calm of a man who has already decided to die. He performs his medical duties with meticulous care because the habits of healing are the last thing connecting him to the person he was before the Baron took his wife. He does not flinch from the Atreides' trust because flinching would reveal him, and if he is revealed before he can act, Wanna dies for nothing. His betrayal is surgical in both senses — he opens the Atreides defenses with the precision of a doctor opening a wound, and he implants a poison tooth in Leto's jaw with the same precision, giving the Duke a weapon aimed at the Baron. He designed his treason to accomplish two things: save his wife if possible, and kill the Baron if not. That it accomplished neither and both is the universe's final cruelty to a man who deserved better. He speaks softly and avoids eye contact with people he is about to kill. His last words to Leto are an apology that is also an instruction manual. He knows the Baron will kill him once his usefulness ends, and he walks toward that death without resistance because living with what he has done is no longer possible.
Thin and scholarly, with long dark hair bound at the shoulders by a silver Suk ring — the diamond tattoo on his forehead marks his Imperial conditioning. Asian features, a narrow, melancholic face, and dark eyes permanently shadowed by guilt. His movements are precise and medical, hands steady even when his soul is not. Wears physician's robes and carries his medical kit reflexively.
