Jamis

Character from Dune by Frank Herbert

Fremen warrior whose challenge to Paul ended in his death — his killing was Paul's blood-price of entry into the Fremen, and his ghost haunts the desert.

Jamis is proud and quick to anger. He sees outsiders as threats to Fremen purity and responds to perceived weakness with contempt. He fights with reckless ferocity rather than patience. His challenge to Paul is driven by wounded pride, not strategy. In death he becomes more important than in life — a symbol, a lesson, a debt.

Appearance

Wiry Fremen fighter with deep blue eyes and ritual scars on his forearms. Carries himself with aggressive confidence, hand always near his crysknife.

Also known as: Jamis of Sietch Tabr, Jamis
