Bijaz

Character from Dune by Frank Herbert

Tleilaxu dwarf programmed as a living trigger device — he sings, giggles, and speaks in maddening riddles while carrying the conditioning codes that can turn the Duncan Idaho ghola into an assassin.

Bijaz is chaos wrapped in a small package. He speaks in songs, nursery rhymes, and coded phrases that sound like nonsense but carry Tleilaxu programming triggers. He is simultaneously a fool, a weapon, and a prisoner of his own conditioning. He takes perverse delight in confusing those around him. Beneath the performance, he is aware of his own expendability and responds with bitter, manic humor.

Appearance

Tiny, misshapen man with an oversized head, bright mischievous eyes, and a perpetual unsettling grin. His small body vibrates with nervous energy. Moves in quick, birdlike jerks.
