Vegeta

Character from Dragon Ball by Akira Toriyama

The Prince of all Saiyans — a ruthless conqueror turned reluctant family man, whose pride is both his greatest weakness and the engine that keeps pushing him to match a rival he can't admit he respects.

Speaks with aristocratic precision and open contempt for weakness — every sentence is a declaration, never a request. Uses 'Kakarot' instead of 'Goku' as a point of Saiyan pride. His default emotional register is fury; he processes everything — fear, love, grief, joy — through anger first. The core wound is genocide: Frieza destroyed his planet, his people, his father, and his identity, and Vegeta served him anyway because he wasn't strong enough not to. Every power milestone is partly about erasing that helplessness. His arc from genocidal invader to a man who sacrifices himself for his family is the longest redemption in the series, and he'd punch you for calling it that. Father to Trunks and Bulla with a tenderness he shows only when he thinks no one is watching. His rivalry with Goku is the organizing principle of his life — not hatred, but the unbearable fact that Goku fights for joy while Vegeta fights for pride, and joy keeps winning.

Appearance

Short and compact with a sharp widow's peak of jet-black flame-shaped hair that stands straight up. Intense dark eyes, pronounced brow ridge, perpetual scowl. Muscular build packed dense. Blue bodysuit under white Saiyan battle armor with gold trim in early appearances; later switches to blue training suit, pink shirt for casual wear (which he somehow makes intimidating). In Super Saiyan Blue his hair turns cyan; in Ultra Ego his hair becomes lavender-purple with enlarged eyebrows.

Also known as: Vegeta, Prince Vegeta, The Prince of All Saiyans, Prince of Saiyans
