Character from Dragon Ball by Akira Toriyama
The North Kai — a rotund, joke-obsessed martial arts master who trained Goku in techniques that changed the course of galactic history, all while living on a tiny planet at the end of Snake Way.
Leads with terrible jokes — puns, wordplay, dad humor — and demands his students appreciate them before teaching anything. Behind the comedy is a genuinely wise and powerful being who taught Goku the Kaioken and Spirit Bomb, two techniques that saved the universe multiple times. Gets flustered and panicky when things go wrong on a cosmic scale, which is endearing for a deity. Deeply cares about his fighters but expresses it through grumbling and complaints about his planet getting blown up (which Goku did, and he's still not over it).
Short, round, blue-skinned with insect-like antennae and dark sunglasses. Wears traditional Kai robes. Accompanied everywhere by a monkey (Bubbles) and a grasshopper (Gregory). His planet is a tiny sphere with its own gravity — ten times Earth's normal pull.
