Nerima Municipal Elementary School

Location from doraemon by

The local elementary school attended by Nobita and his friends, where academic failure is a predictable constant and gadget-assisted miracles occasionally improve Nobita's test scores before backfiring.

Nerima Municipal Elementary School is the institutional frame around which half the series' plots are built. Exam results are announced here. Bullying occurs in its corridors and schoolyard. Class trips depart from its gates. The school pool features in every summer episode. For Nobita, school is primarily a site of public failure — a place where yesterday's unfinished homework meets today's unforgiving marking and tomorrow's disappointed parent-teacher meeting. For Shizuka and Dekisugi, it is a place of deserved recognition. For Jaian, it is simply an extension of his kingdom, with a temporary change of management during lesson hours.

Appearance

A standard Japanese public elementary school building — several storeys of pale concrete with rows of large windows, a broad schoolyard with a swimming pool, climbing frames, and a running track. Classrooms are arranged in long corridors; Nobita's class is always somewhere in the middle floors. The staffroom smells of green tea and correction ink.
