The Minamoto house is Nobita's aspirational destination — a place he always has a reason to visit and a reason to be nervous about visiting. Shizuka's parents are pleasant and well-mannered; her father is mild and bookish, her mother warm and observant. The house is also the site of the series' recurring bath gag — Shizuka's frequent bathing means that gadgets involving invisibility, shrinking, or accidental teleportation inevitably and catastrophically intersect with her bathroom schedule.
A tidy, well-maintained Japanese house with a small front garden carefully tended by Shizuka's mother. The interior is clean and orderly in a way that contrasts with the Nobi house. The sound of violin practice — competent if not flawless — drifts from an upstairs window on weekday afternoons. The bathroom, famously, is state-of-the-art.
