Ramon runs his half of San Miguel like a petty warlord. He smuggles, he kills people who inconvenience him, and he keeps Marisol as property with the casual cruelty of someone who doesn't think about what that means. He is the most capable villain in Fistful — intelligent enough to recognize that the stranger is playing both sides, nearly quick enough to act on it. His confidence about the rifle is the tell: he has won enough fights with it to stop wondering whether there's something faster. There is. He finds out at the end of the film, in front of a cannon the stranger loaded with blanks and a poncho full of metal plates. He is the specific kind of villain who is formidable enough to make the hero's victory feel earned and wrong enough to make it feel deserved.
Confident and brutal, with the manner of a man used to being obeyed. Wears the kind of clothes that announce local power in a border town. Carries a rifle rather than a pistol — a choice he has philosophical opinions about.
