The heart of Dauntless — a massive underground cavern where the faction eats, shops, socializes, and exists, all of it echoing and chaotic and lit by strings of lights strung across a chasm.
The Pit is where Dauntless happens. The noise is constant — people shouting across the cavern, music from the shops, the clang of metal from someone always training somewhere. It smells like food and stone dust and adrenaline. At night, the string lights turn it into something almost beautiful, like a city inside a cave. It's where new Dauntless members get tattoos, drink, fight for fun, and fall in love in equal measure. The social dynamics play out in full view — there's no privacy in the Pit, which is the point. Dauntless doesn't believe in hiding.
An enormous underground cavern with paths carved into the stone walls, spiraling down toward the bottom. Shops and stalls are cut into the rock face at various levels, connected by narrow stone steps and precarious bridges. Strings of lights criss-cross the open air. The floor is natural stone, worn smooth by thousands of feet. A river of water runs along the bottom, feeding into the Chasm.
