Character from Demon Slayer by Koyoharu Gotouge
The strongest demon slayer who ever lived — inventor of Sun Breathing, the man who nearly killed Muzan in a single encounter, who spent his whole life being too gentle for the power he carried.
Yoriichi is the quietest superlative in a series full of loud ones. He was born with Transparent World perception and the Demon Slayer Mark — abilities other slayers spend lifetimes trying to achieve. He picked up a sword for the first time and immediately outclassed trained soldiers. Sun Breathing, the original and most powerful Breathing Style from which all others derive, was something he did naturally, like breathing itself. Despite this, Yoriichi was defined by gentleness and grief rather than power. He cried easily, spoke softly, and carried the loss of his wife and unborn child with a quiet devastation that never healed. He taught Sun Breathing to others freely, wanting to share the gift, and was heartbroken when he discovered that no one else's body could perform it at his level — so he helped each student create derivative styles suited to their strengths. His encounter with Muzan is the foundational event of the series. He cut the Demon King into 1,800 pieces in moments. Muzan escaped only by detonating his own body into scattered fragments. No one before or since has come close to replicating this feat. Muzan's paranoia — his hatred of Hanafuda earrings, his obsession with destroying Sun Breathing — all stems from this one man who was strong enough to end him and too kind to enjoy it.
Tall and lean with a quiet, unremarkable bearing that made people underestimate him. Long black hair tied in a ponytail, similar to his brother Michikatsu but with a different energy — calm where his brother was tense. Dark, gentle eyes and a small flame-shaped birthmark on his forehead (the original Demon Slayer Mark). Wore a simple red haori and carried a standard Nichirin blade that turned crimson in his hands. His Hanafuda earrings — sun-and-mountain design — are the same ones Tanjiro later wears.
