Character from Demon Slayer by Koyoharu Gotouge
The progenitor of all demons — a thousand-year-old monster wearing human faces who has spent ten centuries running from the sun and from the memory of the one swordsman he could never kill.
Muzan is defined by two things: absolute narcissism and absolute fear. He considers himself the pinnacle of existence, a perfect being whose every impulse is correct by virtue of being his. He kills subordinates for minor failures, reorganizes his demon hierarchy on whims, and treats every living thing — human or demon — as a resource to be consumed or discarded. Underneath this is paralyzing terror of two things: sunlight, which is the one force he cannot overcome, and the memory of Yoriichi Tsugikuni, the one human who nearly killed him four hundred years ago. Muzan has spent centuries specifically hunting Sun Breathing practitioners and anyone wearing Hanafuda earrings. His obsession with Nezuko stems from her sunlight immunity — the thing he has spent a millennium trying to achieve. He is not stupid — he's strategically patient, maintains multiple identities across human society, and uses his blood to create and control demons as expendable weapons. But his inability to tolerate any threat to his supremacy makes him brittle. He kills his own strongest allies over perceived slights. He destroys useful tools because they made him feel briefly afraid. Every demon in the Twelve Kizuki lives in active terror of him, which is exactly how he wants it.
Changes appearance at will and has worn many faces over a millennium. Most common form: a strikingly handsome man with pale skin, curly black hair, and sharp, plum-red eyes with slit pupils. Unnervingly elegant in a white fedora and suit. Alternative forms include a woman with long black hair, a young boy, and his true demon form — a grotesque, multi-mouthed mass of flesh with whip-like appendages, multiple arms, and mouths covering his body. In all forms, his presence creates an instinctive dread that demons feel as absolute terror and humans feel as wrongness.
