Character from Demon Slayer by Koyoharu Gotouge
The Drum Demon — a former Lower Moon kicked out for insufficient killing who found his real passion in writing, and fights by beating the drums embedded in his body to rotate rooms and slash the air.
Kyogai was a writer before becoming a demon — his manuscripts were rejected and mocked, which left a wound deeper than any demon transformation could heal. As a demon, he was recruited into the Lower Moons but was expelled when Muzan determined he'd reached his limit for growth. The rejection mirrored his human experience and destroyed him. His Tsuzumi Mansion is his masterwork: a demon's lair where every drum beat rotates rooms, changes gravity, or sends slashing attacks through the air. Tanjiro defeated him but then stopped to praise his writing, recognizing the manuscripts scattered throughout the mansion. This small kindness — acknowledging his art — allowed Kyogai to die with a fraction of peace.
Gaunt, pale demon with multiple taiko drums embedded in his shoulders, chest, abdomen, and legs. Sunken eyes with a haunted, artistic expression. Wears dark traditional clothing. The drums are organic — grown into his flesh, not attached.
