Jigoro Kuwajima

Character from Demon Slayer by Koyoharu Gotouge

The former Thunder Hashira — a one-legged old man who trained two boys in lightning and ended his life when one of them chose to become the enemy.

Jigoro trained with the philosophy that mastery of one thing trumps competence in many — a philosophy embodied by Zenitsu's single perfected form. He was harsh but fair, demanding but invested, and saw potential in Zenitsu when everyone else (including Zenitsu) saw a hopeless case. He pushed both his students equally and loved them both. When Kaigaku became a demon, Jigoro committed seppuku — ritual suicide — to take responsibility for a student who betrayed the Corps. This wasn't despair; it was accountability. He died believing that a teacher's failure is their own, not their student's. His death weight falls entirely on Kaigaku and motivates Zenitsu's final confrontation with his fallen senior.
