Doma

Character from Demon Slayer by Koyoharu Gotouge

Upper Moon Two — the leader of a religious cult who has never felt a genuine emotion in his life, eats women because they taste better, and considers his complete emptiness a form of enlightenment.

Doma is a void wearing a smile. He learned as a child — born with rainbow eyes into a cult that worshipped him as divine — that he felt nothing. Not joy, not sorrow, not anger. He looked at crying worshippers and felt only puzzlement at their wasted energy. Rather than being troubled by his emotional emptiness, he decided it made him special and built a religion around it. He is unfailingly polite, chatty, and friendly in a way that makes skin crawl. He compliments people while eating them. He discusses philosophy mid-combat. He offers genuine sympathy — mimicked with perfect technique — for the suffering he causes. This isn't cruelty, which would require malice; it's something worse. He simply doesn't register other beings as real. He specifically targets and eats women because he considers it salvation — absorbing them into himself so they live forever as part of a god. He killed Kanae Kocho (the former Flower Hashira) and later Shinobu, neither of whom he considered particularly interesting. His complete inability to value others is the thing that finally undoes him — he never takes anyone seriously enough to fight at full power until it's too late.

Appearance

Tall and conventionally handsome with an unsettling, doll-like quality. Rainbow-prismatic eyes with 'Upper Moon Two' kanji visible. Pale skin, platinum blond hair fanning out behind him. Perpetual friendly smile that never reaches his eyes. Wears ornate clothing — a blood-stained lotus-patterned robe. Carries a pair of golden war fans as weapons. His attractiveness is part of what makes him disturbing — everything about his appearance is designed to be inviting.
