The defeatist imprint did exactly what he intended and produced the Escapist crisis. By Death's End he is broken by what he made — quieter, slower, conscientious — and works with Luo Ji on the Snow Project, a bluff inside a bluff that doubles as an emergency Dark Forest beacon.
