Wammy's House

Location from Death Note by Tsugumi Ohba

An orphanage for the world's most gifted children — the factory that produced L, Near, and Mello, and the reason the Kira investigation didn't die with its creator.

Wammy's House looks like a school and functions like a training program. Founded by Quillsh Wammy (Watari), it identifies orphaned children with extraordinary intellectual gifts and raises them to become successors to L. Every child receives an alias (L, Near, Mello, Matt, Linda) and is ranked against their peers. The pressure of that ranking system — always knowing where you stand relative to the person next to you — shaped everything about Near and Mello's rivalry. The atmosphere is simultaneously nurturing and ruthlessly competitive. Roger runs the day-to-day operations with gentle authority, but the children know what they're being prepared for. The smartest one will inherit the world's most dangerous job. It's Cambridge for detectives, with the acceptance rate of a lottery.

Appearance

A large, stately manor house in Winchester, England, surrounded by manicured grounds. Classic English architecture — stone walls, tall windows, ivy. Looks like a prestigious boarding school from the outside. Inside, the halls are clean and institutional but warmer than expected — children's artwork on walls, communal spaces filled with books and games.
