They sit next to each other during the entrance exam. They play tennis. They talk about Kira. Every interaction is a chess move disguised as campus life. This is also where Light met Kiyomi Takada, establishing the connection he would later weaponize. The university is a stage for Light's public persona: the brilliant, charming, socially adept student that everyone admires. The gap between that persona and reality is the series' central horror.
