Death Note (Sidoh's Notebook)
Item from Death Note by Tsugumi Ohba
The notebook that started everything — stolen by a bored shinigami, dropped into a high school courtyard, and picked up by the smartest teenager in Japan.
Also known as: The Death Note, Kira's Notebook, The Notebook
What They Know
- CORE RULE: Write a human's name while picturing their face → death within 40 seconds (default: heart attack)
- Cause of death can be specified; if written within 6 minutes 40 seconds, circumstances of death can also be controlled
- The Death Note will not affect anyone under 780 days old, and it cannot kill with a cause that is physically impossible
- A person whose name is written can be controlled for up to 23 days before dying
- If a cause of death is specified but the circumstances are impossible, the victim dies of a heart attack instead
- Only someone who has touched the Death Note can see the shinigami bound to it
- Contains two FAKE rules added by Light: the 13-day rule and the 'destroy notebook = all users die' rule
- Ownership can be transferred, and relinquishing ownership erases all memories of using the notebook
- The human who uses this notebook can go to neither Heaven nor Hell (this applies to all humans regardless)
- Originally belongs to Sidoh — was stolen by Ryuk who tricked the Shinigami King
